Yvonne Frindle

Harmonious Wordsmith
writer | editor | designer | speaker
classical music and ballet

It took Yvonne a surprisingly long time to realise that people were paid to make the program books she’d been collecting since childhood. At which point she traded the possibilities of orchestral flute playing or academia for a life working with words. Writing and speaking for classical music lovers, she delights in empowering the audiences of what can often seem an arcane art form.

Yvonne’s background in orchestral concert programming helps her draw connections between musical works, highlighting the artistic vision behind a concert, and has made her especially attentive to the complete aural and visual experience of the music in the hall. And as Publications Editor for Australia’s busiest symphony orchestra for more than a decade, she acquired a reputation as an authoritative and knowledgeable writer-editor with a keen eye for grammatical and typographical detail.

Yvonne brings to her work imagination, humour, artistic and design experience, project management strengths, curiosity and thorough research skills. Her clients include Australia’s major music organisations as well as orchestras in the USA and international record labels, and her interests extend beyond classical music to include dance, theatre and the visual arts.
